Ball & Tunnel

Death Run 3D is a fast 3D tunnel runner where you steer around a tube to dodge moving obstacles. Play it free in your browser.

Death Run 3D is a fast first-person tunnel runner played in the browser. You are pushed down a tube at a speed that leaves little time to think, and the walls are full of blockers that you have to slip past by turning around the inside of the tube. One touch ends the attempt, so a run is over in seconds if you panic and lasts much longer if you stay calm.

If you came to Slope for the feeling of being slightly out of control at high speed, this is a close cousin. The setting is a tunnel rather than a track, and you steer around the surface of the tube instead of left and right on a road, but the appeal is the same: a short, repeatable challenge where you always believe the next attempt will go further.

It loads straight in the browser as a 3D game, with nothing to install, and a round is short enough to fit between other things.

How to play

Press Play and choose a tunnel. From there the game moves forward on its own. Your only job is to steer: the arrow keys or WASD move you around the tube so that you line up with the gaps between obstacles. Press R to restart straight away after a crash.

Obstacles in these tunnels move, so a gap that is open when you first see it may be closing by the time you reach it. Each tunnel uses its own set of obstacles, which means the first few attempts on a new one are mostly about learning what is coming.

Tips

  • Make small, early corrections. Big late swerves tend to carry you into the next obstacle.
  • Look at the obstacle after the one in front of you. Setting up your position early is what lets you keep going at speed.
  • Once you reach a gap, stop pushing the keys. Holding a direction too long is a common way to overshoot.
  • Switching to fullscreen makes the tunnel larger and easier to read.

Tunnel Rush is the nearest relative, with the same fly-through-a-tube idea at a more forgiving pace. Color Tunnel and Color Tunnel 2 are other tube-style runners on this site, while Slope itself puts you on an open track with ramps and falls rather than a closed tube. If you want a rolling-ball feel, Rolly Vortex is worth a look.

Death Run 3D suits quick keyboard sessions when you want a hard, no-frills dodging challenge.
